The brief

Twenty years of built work, currently trapped in a PDF. Make it browsable without making it a portfolio grid.

That was the whole brief. Everything below came out of the conversation that followed it.

The direction

An architecture archive fails in one of two ways: it becomes a wall of thumbnails that flattens twenty years into one texture, or it becomes a chronology nobody scrolls to the end of. The direction was to treat each project as a document rather than an image — plan, section, material note, year — and let the photography sit second.

The archive is a custom post type with real taxonomies behind it, so the practice adds a project the way they would add a blog post. No developer in the loop, no layout to rebuild.
